Where To Dispose Of Your CFL lightbulbs

The Good Business Journey

If like many of us, green South Africans, you have done the eco-friendly thing and replaced your household lightbulbs with the ‘energy saver’ CFL bulbs, you’ll be pleased to know that now, in addition to selling these CFL bulbs, Woolworths as part of their ‘Good Business Journey‘ to help people and the planet, is helping make sure that once your bulbs reach the end of their lifespan, they’re disposed of safely.

Being fluorescents, CFL lights contain a small amount of the toxic element mercury, which is essential for their operation, and it is therefore vital that they are disposed of correctly.

I’m pleased to inform you that Woolies has now installed specially designed disposal bins in most major stores countrywide! In Cape Town there is one on the lower ground level of the Cavendish Square store, near the food section.

So now no matter where you buy your CFL bulbs, please use these bins to ensure the proper disposal of burnt – out CFL’s.

Just another tip to help protect our environment!
