Give mom some green love this Mother´s Day

It’s that time of year again when we pay tribute to amazing moms out there – and if you’re a mom, then it’s time to reward yourself too! Show some organic love this Mother’s Day.

Treat her to some TLC

Moms are always on the go, so why not let her check in somewhere relaxing for the weekend? Organise for someone to look after your best friend’s kids so she can disappear for a while to a green spa for some much-needed peace and quiet. A great idea is to book her into the Karkloof Spa-Wellness and Wildlife Retreat in Kwazulu-Natal, which boasts the most expansive eco-friendly spa in Africa. Why not join her and make it a green weekend for great moms?

Give her something that grows

Instead of gifting moms with traditional goodies like chocolates that get consumed in a day, how about a gorgeous plant that will last forever? Choose a plant that is easy to take care of, doesn’t use a lot of water and is indigenous to South Africa to preserve our local heritage. Check out Indigenous Plants for a list and pictures of plants before you head to the nursery.

Get the kids in on it

Some of the best gifts for moms are those made by their own kids, so let your kids create something beautiful for their aunts, grandmothers or teachers. Use items from the garden or household goods that have been discarded. Old bottles can be turned into pretty vases, while fallen flowers from the garden can be pressed and used as decoration, for instance. Let their imagination run wild and green!

Eco sense

Scents are powerful and the right fragrance really can make a woman feel and smell like a million bucks. But ditch regular fragrances that are loaded with chemicals in favour of something green, such as Crystal Essence Perfume Oil Amber Rose. This natural scent contains delicious ingredients such as organic sunflower, jojoba, Egyptian Rose and other pure essential oils. Moms will love being treated with such a scent-sational idea! Check out Pure Incense for this fragrance as well as a range of others.
