Copenhagen Fashion Summit leads with Sustainability

Nearly a thousand industry stakeholders gathered in Copenhagen last Thursday for the biennial Copenhagen Fashion Summit, which launched in 2009 to coincide with the COP15 Climate Change Conference. The two-day event, sponsored by Nordic Initiative Clean and Ethical (NICE), culminated in a sustainable catwalk featuring more than 70 innovative textiles supplied by C.L.A.S.S. (Creativity Lifestyle and Sustainable Synergy).

From polyester made from recycled plastic bottles to fabrics derived from byproducts of the crab industry, the catwalk at Wednesday’s Fashion Summit in Copenhagen cut a veritable swath of sustainability. Here are a few pictures of the 40 looks from the 20 participating Nordic designers, all of whom made a case for NICE (that’s short for Nordic Initiative Clean and Ethical) fashion in their own inimitable way.

See all 40 looks here.
