Bare Beauty

The nude look makes for trendy makeup this season, but ironically it’s often the most difficult look to achieve! Here’s how to gain “barely there but beautiful” glamour.

Groom your brows

Your eyebrows really are frames of your face, so you want them to be neat and perfectly shaped. Fill them in with an eyebrow pencil to avoid any gaps. A tip when shaping eyebrows: the inner part of the eyebrow should be in line with the outer side of your nostril, while the outer part of your eyebrow should be in line (forming a slant line) with the corner of your lips.

Don’t skimp on eye liner!

Eye liner can be a girl’s best makeup tool and even though you won’t be using lashes of it when trying to achieve the nude look, you still should apply it into the eyelash line to make them look thicker and to make eyes appear bigger. Try Dr Hauschka eyeliners that are made from natural ingredients such as quince wax, and come in a range of shades. You can order them from Fresh Earth.

Earth tones

Earthy eye shadows are perfect for the barely there but eye-catching look. Use browns mixed with bronzes and even light peach tones to accentuate your eyes without looking like you’re wearing too much makeup. Try Urban Decay colours that come in a range of earthy and soft jewel tones. Urban Decay products contain no animal ingredients and they’re cruelty free.

Show off natural beauty

When achieving the ‘barely there’ look, try to focus on working with what you’ve got and only delicately highlighting it. For instance, curl your lashes instead of coating them with too much mascara. This is an instant eye-opener.

Get lippy

Soft pinks, corals and peach are great ideas for lips. They’re flattering for all skin tones so you can’t go wrong. These warm tones add a touch of fresh glamour. Make sure they’re shiny for extra dazzle. ZAO makeup has a range of lipsticks that are made from natural ingredients. Best bets are pearly amethyst or pink to give your natural look some gorgeous goodness. The lipstick containers are made from bamboo and they’re refillable so they’re the ultimate eco accessory!

Go easy on the powder

Powder is essential to finish off your makeup look, but you don’t want to look too heavily coated. A light dusting of powder, especially on areas that need a bit of extra concealing, is all you need to look fresh yet polished.
