Spindel: A new laundry drying alternative

spindel

One of my New Year Resolutions is to cut down household our electricity usage drastically. With the rising cost of electricity in SA, using the tumble dryer in our house is a luxury only to be used in an emergency and mainly only for sheets and towels in winter. For those of us that are environmentally conscious we know that the tumble dryer not only chews through electricity but is also one of the worst contributors to CO² emissions, and we are constantly on the look-out for more efficient household appliances.

In my search I came across Spindel last year. Spindel offers a new laundry drying alternative. This innovative dryer uses centrifugal force instead of heat to remove up to 80% of moisture from garments in just three minutes – providing a quick-dry solution with major environmentally friendly and electricity saving benefits.

Spindel uses just 15 Watts during a standard 3 minute cycle – this is the equivalent of using a 60 Watt light bulb for just 15 minutes. In comparison, one tumble dryer cycle can consume over 3 000 Watts. This means that Spindel uses over 100 times less electricity than a tumble dryer – saving you money and reducing your impact on the environment (no trade-off required).  You can even use Spindel before you tumble dry to reduce your tumble dryer cycle time and electricity cost by up to 75%.

My only issue with the Spindel is that it doesn’t operate on a timer so you can’t leave your laundry to spin unattended. But what I love about the product is, it causes no heat damage and is safe for all fabrics, making it perfect for your delicates such as lingerie, bikini’s and silk items. It even removes residual detergent from the fabrics, making it ideal to use for people with sensitive skin (especially for baby clothing). The Spindel is light, compact and easy to move and store – perfect if you live in an apartment or small house with limited space.

The Spindel is available at selected appliance stores for R 1 599 with a 12 month warranty. For more information visit www.spindel.co.za.

Order on takealot.com before 08 February 2013 and you can get your very own Spindel for the special price of R1,499 (including delivery).
