Delicious Eco Halloween Treats Your Kids Will Love

eco halloween treats

It’s no trick – Eco Halloween treats can be tasty and healthy for your kids. Here are some recipes that are so delicious, it’s scary.

Smashing Pumpkins

Pumpkins are part and parcel of Halloween, so why not make a yummy pumpkin smoothie? It’s a great way to give your kids a treat that screams Halloween while being nutritious.

All you need to do is blend the following ingredients:

1/2 cup canned pumpkin
3/4 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 teaspoons brown sugar
4 ice cubes

Once blended, add a dollop of cream and sprinkles on top.

Eerie Crackers

Kids love fun and tasty treats that get into the spirit of the scary season. Creepy crawly crackers are really easy to make. Take an organic cracker, or crisp bread such as the vegan ones made by Orgran, and smear some peanut butter onto it. Then stick pretzels on the peanut butter layer to create insect legs. Next, place another cracker to close the cracker sandwich. Remember to decorate the top with two raisins as spider eyes!

Halloween Cookie Cutter Bread Snacks

Make a regular sandwich with any filling of your choice (such as peanut butter and jelly or cheese and tomato) and then cut it into fun Halloween shapes. Let’s Party has some great cookie cutter shapes, such as a witch’s hat, bats, spider webs and skulls.

Ghost Biscuits

Ghosts are a must for Halloween. Make the kind kids will love.

What you’ll need:

1 1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup icing sugar
1/4 cup organic chocolate cocoa powder (such as Superfoods’s Raw Organic Cocoa Powder)
125g butter (chopped)
1 egg lightly beaten
cherries

In a food processor, mix the flour, sugar, butter and cocoa until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs. Add the egg, mixing it well. Place the mixture onto a surface dusted with flour and knead it to form dough. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and leave it to rest for 30 minutes. Roll out the pastry between two sheets of baking paper, then cut out some cool ghost shapes with a ghoul cookie cutter. Place the biscuits on a greased baking tray, making sure to bake them in a hot oven until they are lightly brown. Once they are out of the oven and have cooled down, you can use red cherries as ghoul eyes for extra creepy fun!
