Wearable Tech that Monitors Air Pollution

There are loads of technological gadgets that have helped us achieve our health and fitness goals, such as those measuring heart rate to how much height you’ve claimed during your mountain climbing class. But there’s been one element on our morning run that couldn’t be measured until now – how much pollution we’re sucking in with every breath, potentially putting our health at risk. Now a really cool gadget aims to change all that.

Just Breathe!

A Canadian company called Tzoa has developed a gadget known as the enviro-tracker. How it works is that it clips onto your clothing and then while you’re working up a sweat, it cleverly makes use of sensor technology to keep track of the air to which you’re being exposed during your morning run. Tiny fans pull air into the device and pass it through optical sensors that count and monitor the particles in the air.

Track Your Environment

This gadget helps you gain loads of environmental information in real time that you can easily access with a smartphone app. This not only keeps you informed about the world around you but keeps you on track with the healthiest outdoor exercise choices you can make, such as choosing less polluted areas where to bicycle or run. The gadget will also inform you about other environmental issues, such as humidity levels, atmospheric pressure, UV rays (it will tell you how long you’ve been in the sun), temperature and even indoor air quality when you return home so you can have healthier air when you’re in your sanctuary.

Improve Air Quality

Tzoa currently has ambassadors who are testing the product in 25 countries around the world. The gadget seems to be especially beneficial for developing countries where air pollution is a greater concern since air quality is not as regulated as it is in elsewhere. By being more informed about the quality of air around you, both inside your home and outdoors, you’ll be able to breathe in better air and make your daily fitness the healthiest it can be.
